Würth Additive Group PA6 – Wear-Resistant Nylon for Tribological Applications
Würth PA6 – Wear Resistant is a specially formulated Nylon 6 engineered for significantly enhanced wear performance—delivering up to 3× the wear resistance of standard PA6. This material features a harder surface, improved dimensional stability, and a matte finish, making it ideal for high-friction, dry-running applications that require consistent mechanical performance.
Developed to address demanding sliding and rotational wear conditions, this material enables the 3D printing of net-shape or near-net-shape components previously machined from wear-grade materials like MoS₂-filled nylons (e.g., Nylatron GS).
Recommended Applications:
-
Bushings, bearings, and rollers
-
Wear pads, sliders, and linear guides
-
Gears and components with repeated motion
-
Functional test parts previously machined from wear-grade nylon
-
High-speed, low-lubrication mechanical systems
Specs:
- Diameter: 1.75mm ± 0.04mm
- Wear Rate: 12 μm/km
- Dynamic Coefficient of Friction: 0.35-0.55
- Spool Size: 500g (1.1 lbs)
- Recommended Print Temp: 260–275°C
- Bed Temp: 80-95°C
- Printing Speed: 50mm/s - 150mm/s
- Print Environment: Heated Chamber recommended
- Drying Setting: 90°C for 4-6hr
Performance Tip:
Würth PA6 – Wear Resistant performs best in dry conditions up to 120°C. While the base formulation excels without lubrication, introducing external lubricants can significantly increase wear life—especially under high loads, speeds, or elevated temperatures (high PV environments).
