Markforged Mark Two (Gen 2) continuous fiber 3D printer
Set in an office, on a desktop, this 3D printer allows you to produce parts that rival aluminum in strength. The Mark Two 3D printer combines Markforged's unique continuous carbon fiber reinforcement with proven reliability for the strongest, most versatile parts. The Mark Two 3D printer supports the full range of the Markforged filaments and reinforcement materials. The printer is designed to be quick and easy to set up, operate, and maintain, with a clean and intuitive design and easy to exchange wear parts.
Markforged 3D printing materials
As engineers seek to reduce the cost of prototype parts, 3D printing with stronger materials is becoming increasingly popular. Print parts in Nylon or Onyx (a nylon with chopped carbon fiber that's 1.4 times stiffer than ABS) only, or chose to reinforce them with a series of continuous carbon fibers such as carbon fiber, kevlar, fiberglass or high strength high temperature fiberglass. Continuous fiber reinforcement will give your parts excellent strength to weight rations and produce parts that can rival aluminum in specific applications. You can also print with Markforged Smooth TPU 95A, which is a rubber-like material that gives you the ability to create flexible, shock absorbing parts (Thermoplastic Polyurethane). Another material of choice for prototyping and validation is Markforged Precise PLA - a cost effective way to make sure your design is on point.
Applications and use cases
The Markforged systems allow for a variety of use cases, from initial prototyping to end-use parts.
Soft Jaws - 3D printing soft jaws requires no programming or machining time, and they can be printed overnight without supervision.
Welding fixtures - Parts printed on the Markforged Mark Two are heat resistant enough to hold most welded parts and easily integrate with metal parts to provide additional buffers when needed.
Process Automation - Continuous fiber 3D printing allows process automation tools to be developed, tested and implemented quickly and cost-effectively.
End-of-arm tooling - 3D printed end-of-arm tooling is strong but lightweight, highly customizable, and can be iterated quickly at a fraction of the cost of traditional tooling.
Service / MRO - Manufacture high-quality custom tooling more efficiently with Markforged printers and service equipment.
Assembly - Augment manual and automated assembly operations with 3D-printed assembly parts optimized for your process.
Functional prototyping - Use high-strength 3D printing to understand how your parts will behave in context before they go into production.
Initial prototyping - Iterate quickly and get a feel for your industrial design by 3D printing early models with high fidelity.

Markforged 3D printer benefits:
- High strength printing. By reinforcing your parts with composite fibers during 3D printing, the Mark Two achieves unparalleled strength, rigidity and durability.
- Choice of strong base and reinforcement materials. Not only can the Mark Two print onyx, but it can also print materials like carbon fiber, fiberglass, HSHT fiberglass, and kevlar. This means you can create and print really strong composite parts.
- Easy to use. With cloud-connected software, it's easy to provide regular over-the-air updates to keep your Markforged products getting better. This also allows you to take advantage of material usage tracking and out-of-material detection to monitor your printers and reduce waste.
- Touchscreen interface. Like all Markforged 3D printers, the Mark Two has a built-in 4.3″ touchscreen. Therefore, managing your printer is really easy as you can start or evaluate your prints and run utilities very easily.
- Eiger Printing Software. 3D printing with fiber composites requires good software as well as unique printing technology. As you would expect, Markforged's Eiger 3D printing software is powerful and easy to use and runs in your browser. You can import and slice your model while adding composites for high-strength printing. The internet-based architecture ensures that the software is constantly updated to include the latest features and performance enhancements. The cloud software comes with all Markforged printers.
- Precise design. The Markforged Mark Two 3D printer's print bed locks into place with 10 micron accuracy. This allows you to pause a print and remove the bed to add components. Then you can snap the bed back into place and continue printing in the same location.
